Colleton County's Comprehensive Plan Update

PUBLIC DROP-IN MEETINGS

SEVEN public drop-in meetings were held in locations across the County in March and April. Thank you to the 150+ residents and stakeholders who came out to share your feedback on the draft Plan Update. If you were unable to attend a drop-in meeting, you can also review the boards online and provide comments on this project website. The draft Plan Update is currently being edited based on feedback received from the public. After review with the Planning Commission, the draft Plan Update will be available for public review. There will be additional public hearings and elected board meetings as part of the plan adoption process this summer.

This is the project website for Colleton County's Comprehensive Plan update. The Comprehensive Plan will guide the future growth and development of Colleton County. It will include a thorough analysis of emerging trends and topics related to land use, development, and other factors that impact growth. The analysis, along with public input, will be utilized to develop a vision and recommendations to guide the County's growth in the coming years. This website will serve as the home base for you to learn more about the planning process, review information, and find ways to stay involved.

A Comprehensive Plan is a document intended to guide and shape future growth in a community. The State of South Carolina requires that all local governments maintain and update a comprehensive plan every ten years; considering ten required elements: population, housing, economic development, land use, transportation, natural resources, cultural resources, community facilities, priority investments, and resiliency.

The Comprehensive Plan will be developed over the course of approximately one year, beginning in Septemberof 2025.

The Comprehensive Plan will include an assessment of population, housing, economic development, land use, transportation, natural resources, cultural resources, community facilities, priority investments, resiliency, and similar factors which impact future development.
